Men's Toughened Down Jacket

ALL-MOUNTAIN DAILY DRIVER

Tough on the outside. Luxuriously soft on the inside. A hard-wearing, versatile, water-repellent goose down jacket designed for multi-activity use in cold conditions. The rich feature set, toughened face fabric and precise balance of durability, comfort and performance make it a powerhouse both on and off the mountain. With a remarkable warmth-to-weight ratio with 750 Fill Power goose down in a premium 90/10 down/feather ratio, it’ll be your daily driver in any cold weather.

Feature rich: Water repellent rip-stop face fabric resists the wet, and body-mapped synthetic panelling is positioned in potential moisture zones at the shoulders, cuffs, underarm, collar and hood. Stretch technical cuffs, hand warmer pockets with front facing insulation, Jöttnar’s signature no-snag hem cords, and a stuff sack for it's lightweight carriage.

Our DownTek™ hydrophobic goose down stays dry 10x longer and dries 3x quicker than standard down, reducing fear of exposure in changeable conditions and will never ‘wash out’ like other treated jackets on the market.

Our ethical approach complies with the Responsible Down Standard, and our hydrophobic down uses bluesign®-approved clean chemistry for its water repellency treatment.

Superb "Goldilocks" down jacket

I received my Thorne jacket just prior to a spell of very cold weather arriving in Aberdeenshire, so it was put to good use pretty much straight away. As with other Jottnar products I own, it's put together superbly and with genuine craft, the areas with synthetic fill are precisely where other down jackets I've owned have had clumping of down or wetting previously.

I run fairly warm and find that at temperatures from -7 C up to freezing in light or no wind the Thorne is perfect for moderate exercise or for standing/sitting at a camp. I'm a firm believer that one of the keys to staying warm in the outdoors is not overheating and the Thorne is proving to be a "Goldilocks" jacket - not so over-warm that it loses some versatility while being warm enough to cover a lot of bases for Scottish winter conditions.

The attention to detail is superb and the design and fit are bang-on for me (Medium jacket size and I'm 5ft 8ins, 42ins chest, 32ins waist). I was curious to see how the toughened face fabric looked and felt, and I'm impressed. It's so much more robust than any other down jacket face fabric I've used, but crucially, isn't armour plated - again a great feature and I expect this jacket to last.

At a freezing bikepacking camp with temperatures approaching minus double digits, pulling on the Thorne was instant warmth and comfort, it's truly a "daily driver".

Jottnar kit may not the cheapest, but it's a premium price for a very good reason!

Excellent Jacket

Ordered during Black Friday promotion so got a really price for the jacket. Arrived within the expected postage time and looks great. For a light weight down jacket is very warm, T shirt only required underneath the jacket. Off to try it over Dartmoor over the next couple of weeks and please to support RM business as a RM veteran.

Love this coat

I use this coat for cold weather runs/hikes and love the warmth and comfort. Cools down nicely with zip down a bit. Also a great day to day cold weather coat. Live that this company was founded by former RM ML’s. Will recommend to my first responder bothers and sisters in New York.
