Key Duties:

Working within the Product Development Team and reporting to the Head of Product, you will:

  • As part of the Product Development Team, propose new products, product upgrades, and first to market innovation launches, implementing new technologies, construction techniques and features that benefit Jöttnar’s products.
  • Support the Product Development Team in producing detailed Technical Packs, to include fully graded measurement specs, seam and construction guidelines and any material innovation.
  • Implement and oversee the fitting and grading of all Jöttnar products, across Men’s, Women’s and accessories.
  • Work with manufacturing partners to resolve fit, style and construction concerns. Technical performance, safety, and product end use always considered.
  • Manage fit sessions and fit times, organising models as appropriate, in line with the critical path.
  • Use fabric and yarn knowledge to confidently identify areas of concern, and address with fabric mills and suppliers, as necessary.
  • Work with the department Product Developer in investigating and exposing product costs not immediately visible, and identify routes to more profitable costings.
  • Own and protect Jottnar’s highest quality standards, ensuring consistency across all styles, season after season.
  • Ensure manufacturing facilities and capabilities are well matched to business expectations, through knowledge of supply base and action planning with suppliers when necessary.
  • Assess new factories in regards to CSR, as well as capability and suitability for Jöttnar. Ensure all suppliers audits and compliance reports are up to date, recorded and managed with the Head of Product. Any risks to be identified when appropriate.
  • Seek out appropriate industry specialists to stay informed of new developments and best practice within the Outdoor Clothing industry.
  • Organise the testing of materials and trims, ensuring promotional claims and product safety are fully supported.
  • Manage the external communication of Jöttnar’s quality and fabric testing standards, ensuring manuals and procedures are kept up to date.
  • Support in the creation and testing of field and wear test samples. Recording and analysing performance, fabric, fit, safety and trim functionality feedback. Highlight any concerns to Head of Product and take action when needed.
  • Conduct in-house quality inspections on receipt of product deliveries, recording any faults and failures, feeding back to factories to improve on any further production.
  • Ensure all technical data is collated for the’ technical spec’ information on the product pages on Jöttnar.com. Features and benefits to be noted for customers knowledge and safety.
  • Work cross-functionally, as and when required, to support wider business objectives and projects.
  • An interest and awareness in moving fitting and sealing to online systems such as Clo3D.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A technically relevant qualification, preferably at degree level.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience, ideally with a Sports or Outdoor Clothing company, within a similar role.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • You can effectively balance autonomy and collaboration.
  • You have a strong knowledge of Jöttnar’s products and an interest or involvement in outdoor activities.
  • Passionate and positive about developing and improving product; proactively identifying issues and implementing solutions.
  • Open to self-development and learning to grow and develop within the role.
  • Strong time-management skills; able to prioritise tasks and a willingness to be flexible.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator.

Remuneration, Benefits and Conditions

  • Annual salary: up to £40,000 DOE.

  • 28 working days paid holiday per year, in addition to normal bank and public holidays.
  • Office hours 9-5.
  • Our Cardiff office is your formal place of work and is 10 mins from the city centre. Cardiff is the cultural, educational, political and international-sports capital of Wales. There is climbing, world class mountain biking, white water rafting, beaches and surfing a short distance from our office. The Brecon Beacons is 40 mins away. Bristol airport is within a 30 min drive.
